Some Ideas On Things To Do In New Orleans

  • January 30, 2024

New Orleans is a great city to visit anytime as the city is rich in heritage, sampling different varieties of food, sights to see and choosing between what to see with multiple events happening all year long.  Read on for a few ideas on things to do and visit.

CITY SIGHTSEEING NEW ORLEANS HOP-ON HOP-OFF BUS TOUR

If this is your first time to the "BIG EASY" and time is limited or you just want to get a lay of the land, definitely buy tickets for the bus service.  It is a great way to find out where you want to spend your time and money.

Discover historic New Orleans in an open-top double decker bus on the hop-on hop-off sightseeing tour.  With a one day ticket, design a personal itinerary with several stops, including the famous French Market, Jackson Square and the Garden District.  You will have unobstructed views with a fun on board commentary.  There will be a live tour guide to give you some ideas.  You can reserve now, pay later with a free cancellation up to 24 hours before your time. The total tour is an hour and a half but you can get off at designated spots.  Lastly, enquire if they have a discount booklet which includes offers on local eateries, shops and attractions.

# 1 TOURIST SPOT IN NEW ORLEANS; FRENCH QUARTER

If you have never been to New Orleans or just want to re-visit again, the French Quarter is the place to go.   There is no cost for entering the Quarter:  It is a lively place, with lots to do and definitely a "one-of-a-kind experience!"   The French Quarter area, also known as Vieux Carre, is the heart and soul of the area and is a National Historic Landmark.  Vieux Carre was established by the French in 1718 and as you wander thru Jackson Square and the Cabildo, remnants of French architecture are apparent in the balconies adorned with baroque ironwork, hanging, leafy plants and courtyards filled with bubbling fountains.  The main draw will be for many, the infamous party hub, Bourbon Street !  Here, you will find performers, fortune tellers and bars with evenings, sometimes noisy!

# 4 TOURIST SPOT IN NEW ORLEANS: GARDEN DISTRICT.

For people who like to do walking tours in neighborhoods, the Garden District is a must.  The district is less than 3 miles southwest of the French Quarter and is full of beautiful, older architectural homes surrounded by trees, ivy, and gardens.  There is a peaceful atmosphere served with well-preserved properties, far removed from all the activity and crowds of the French Quarter.

The BEST WESTERN PLUS WESTBANK welcomes you and yours for your stay in New Orleans offering excellent service and family-friendly amenities with a top-notch location in the heart of the city.  Enjoy your time in the exciting city of New Orleans.
